1946 Born in Calcutta, India.
1950 At age four, began studying Hatha Yoga with Bishnu Ghosh. He practiced four to six hours everyday at Ghosh's College of Physical Education in Calcutta, India.
1959 Won the National India Yoga championship and was undefeated for the following three years. 1964 Pulverized a knee during a weight training. With the help of his guru, Bishnu, walked again six months later by practicing yoga.
1965 Began teaching yoga in Mumbai and developed the famous "Sequence of 26 Postures". 1970 Opened yoga schools in Tokyo, Japan.
1972 Taught yoga in both Japan and Hawaii.
1972 Was presented to U.S. President Nixon, gave the President a yoga treatment and cured the President's illness.
1973 Was invited by President Nixon, came to Los Angeles and has been teaching Bikram Yoga ever since.
